In my lifetime
Which technologies appeared while you have been alive, and how old you were.
I was born in 1985 in the USSR, in a small town. A rotary phone and a VCR only reached it in the nineties, and not every home had them. The TV showed three channels. Within one lifetime after that came a computer in every flat, the internet, game consoles, a phone in your pocket more powerful than that computer, robots that walk, rockets that land back, and programs that talk.
The few generations before us didn’t get this many leaps. Sometimes I think we were placed here on purpose, where everything changes so fast, to collect as much experience as possible by the end. A joke about the simulation, but not entirely.
